Oh Allah please guide us to the pathway of the light that will lead us to Jannah (Heaven) without  precedent agony in hellfire...Ameen

Some people put obstacles in their own pathways to the light. One of these obstacles is a dangerous widespread issue; between elders and youth, men and women...
It is BEING UNGRATEFUL!

There are three things that will protect Man from such a sin:
  1. Mind and sensibility.
  2. Manners and morals.
  3. Knowledge.
A sensible man will always be grateful to people who were generous to him!

Why do you think obeying parents is of such great value and reward?
Simply, because our presence is thanks to Allah, in the first place, then our parents.
Look at how they take your hand, with mercy and love, all through your childhood, adolescence and even manhood.
So is disobeying them an action of gratitude? NO!
So be grateful to your parents.

How many times have you reached home to your wife and kids late at night? Your kids will be probably asleep but your wife probably isn't! Ever wondered why? She is worried about you.
So is it grateful to meet her worry with indifference and carelessness?
If she, softly, blames: "Couldn't you call and let us know you're okay?"
A grateful answer wouldn't be: "Oh! Where are we now? An interrogation room?!"
This is very ungrateful!
Watch her doing those mundane tasks of housework day after day with complete satisfaction.
Try taking her place for a few days. You would be fed up!
Doesn't she deserve a sweet word of gratitude?!

He who does not thank people does not thank the Lord of the people SWT

Thanking Allah SWT starts with thanking people!.

Our scholars said:
Three people bring poverty to themselves:
(Poverty is not necessarily lack of money; the poverty of the heart by lacking love and mercy is worse than the poverty of the pockets)

  1. An Imaam (any leader) if you do him good, he does not thank, and if you do him bad, he does not forgive.
  2. A bad neighbour, upon seeing a good deed from you he would hide it and upon seeing a bad deed, he would spread it.
  3. A troublesome wife who, in your presence would harm you and in your absence would backbite you and betray you by spreading your secrets.

SO EQUATION OF SHOWING GRATITUDE:
UPON SEEING SOMETHING GOOD = SPREAD
UPON SEEING SOMETHING BAD = HIDE
